Diabetic and Peripheral Neuropathy
Results from nerve damage , often causes weakness, numbness and pain usually in the hands and feet. There are multiple causes genetic, metabolic, toxic, inflammatory, or resulting for trauma. Failed Back syndrome
Refers to chronic back and or leg pain that persists or occurs after back surgery. Generally described as diffuse, dull, and aching pain involving the back or legs. Non surgical management can be helpful.
Headaches
Persistant or chronic headaches result from tension from mechanical sources ( muscles, joints, or nerves) or vascular sources ( migraine headaches ). A variety of non surgical treatments are available including Botox injections.
Spinal disc Herniation
Herniated Disc is a medical condition affecting the spine in which a tear in the outer border of the disc ( shock absorber of the spine) leads to a bulge beyond the outer ring. A tear causes release of ( chemical irritants) causing inflammation and or compression of nerves. Non- surgical treatments are available.
Leg Pain
Persistent or chronic leg pain can result from a variety of causes ( ie: trauma, metabolic, circulation, muscular, joint and nerve pain). A pain diary can be helpful in the diagnostic workup of your pain generator. Sciatica
Refers to a condition in which patients complain of low back, buttocks pain, numbness, pain or weakness in various parts of the leg and foot. This can result from inflammation or compression of the sciatic nerve or its component nerve roots. Diagnostic nerve blocks can be performed to assist with the diagnosis.
Radiculopathy
Unlike sciatica, radiculopathy refers to inflammation or compression of one or more nerve roots ( spinal nerves). Symptoms may include back, buttocks and shooting lower extremity pain.
Sports related injury
Injuries that occur with athletic activities. They can result from acute trauma or over use of body parts. Warming up before activities may decrease the risk of injury.
Spinal stenosis
A condition commonly seen with aging, secondary to degeneration of the spine. It is an abnormal narrowing ( stenosis) of the spinal canal that may occur in any region of your spine ( neck and back ). Symptoms include pain, numbness, paresthesia and possible loss of motor control. In the lower back compression can lead to symptoms of sciatica ( tingling, weakness or numbness that radiates from the lower back, buttocks into the.legs ). Early patient evaluation, education and non-surgical management of pain is the treatment of choice. Patients with severe weakness or bowel and bladder disfunction require immediate evaluation and possibly surgical decompression.
Vertebral compression fracture
This condition can occur anywhere in the spine. It generally occurs from acute trauma or in individuals with weak bones ( Osteoporosis). Evaluation of the cause is necessary. Preventive strategies and treatment of pain are available.
